L'essenza essente di questo volto sta, forse, nell'indicibile tremore suo richeggiante a suo modo l'incanto dell'indicibile tremore di una candela che irraggia luce nel mentre l'assorbe, la manifesta nel sottrarla donandole un respiro, un vibrante e sommesso respiro che accompagna - torniamo a dire del disegno nostro - il lucore degli occhi dell'effigiato, l'incantamento colmo di luce e di gioia segreta del suo sguardo, perduto in un altrove che ci e' precluso..."
